Support for children with HIV
HIV (human immuno-deficiency virus) is a virus that attacks a person's immune system: the body's defence against infections. If someone is infected with HIV, this person is more vulnerable to infections.
When the immune system has suffered a certain amount of damage, or if a person is very ill because of this, the person may be diagnosed as having AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome). People infected with HIV can remain healthy for years before developing AIDS – and may not even be aware that they are infected.
We provide support and advice for children and young people who have HIV or are affected by HIV.
