Children & families

Social Services plays a vital role in the community by providing support to people who are at risk, or having problems coping with everyday life. This includes children and families who may be experiencing a range of problems.

The children and families service offers a range of social work support to the Tower Hamlets community. Services range from family support through to children in public care and joint investigations with the police into child protection concerns.

Services are also provided for children with disabilities, those experiencing mental health difficulties and their families.

Field social workers assess and plan a range of support services, such as access to family centres, fostering and adoption, and children's homes. Increasingly the service works jointly with other key agencies, in particular health, education and the voluntary sector.

The advice and assessment teams deal with new work and can be contacted on 020 7364 5006.
