End of life services

An end of life service is provided by the council, which deals with person's deceased in the borough when there is no other person who is able to take responsibility for the funeral.

Once the police has established that the death is not due to abnormal or suspicious circumstances, the Coroner's office notify the Environmental protection department.

Thorough enquiries are made regarding any living relatives prior to the funeral arrangement. The next of kin is given full access to any property and assistance is offered in sorting the deceased personal affects and belongings prior to clearance of the dwelling house.
