Terms and conditions

In order to pay mainstream and specific grants, we need you to meet certain terms and conditions.

  • you must only use the grant for the purpose agreed. If you want to use it for another purpose, you must get our agreement first. If you do not do this, we may withdraw the grant and recover the money by legal action
  • you must state in any annual report or other published material that Tower Hamlets Council funds you
  • if the grant is for building works you must display a notice to the effect: 'Funding received from the London Borough of Tower Hamlets'. The notice should be displayed, in public view, for the duration of the works
  • your organisation must have a proper constitution. While you are receiving a grant, we expect you to act in accordance with your constitution at all times
  • you must submit your organisation's financial statements or audited accounts to the council within 28 days of their completion, and not later than six months after the end of your financial year. If you don't do this we may withhold payment of any subsequent or outstanding grant
  • grants may not be used for party political activity; or campaigns aimed primarily at persuading the government to change one of its national policies.

You can get a copy of the full terms and conditions of grant aid from the community resources team.
