The Food Safety Act

Under the 1990 Food Safety Act, it is an offence for anyone to sell or intend to sell food that could damage your health. The act also requires businesses to ensure they operate in a hygienic manner.

An estimated five million people suffer from food poisoning in England and Wales each year. When running a food business you are particularly responsible for the health of your customers.
