MOT testing station

The council operates an approved public MOT testing station for cars and light vans. In addition to MOTs we can offer vehicle emission testing and an engineer’s report when buying a new car.

How to pay

Payment can be made by cash or cheque only.  Please note that cheques should be made payable to “London Borough of Tower Hamlets” and crossed “a/c payee only”.  Cheques will only be accepted with a valid cheque guarantee card.

Engineer’s reports

Buying a used car?  Before you part with your cash, it may be wise to have an independent check undertaken by our qualified technicians.

Our vehicle check and report can be provided for any make and any age of car. This report will give you detailed information on the condition and current value of the car, its safety and roadworthiness.

You will also get advice on any recommended repairs required, if any, and information that could assist you in negotiating the right price with the seller.
